guide to building packages

When backporting packages, do it in as clean an environment as possible for instance a virtual machine for that specific purpose.

Download the orig source, .dsc file and diff file for your packages from debian testing (use http://packages.debian.org/ to find the files)

packages are found at http://t-hoerup.dk/backports/

Debian Lenny

• libevent 1.4.13-stable-1
• transmission 1.93-1 (depends on backported libevent)

Ubuntu Lucid

• vlc 1.1.0-4 (debian source)
